TERMS AND CONDITIONS

By checking the box and submitting your application, you (“Contestant”) agree to the following Terms and Conditions:

Contestant agrees to submit their original song for participation in the Verse to Voice (“V2V”) songwriter competition.
Songs must be 100% original and written solely by the Contestant (no co-writes, no covers).
Entry into V2V will not at any point change ownership of song. Song remains solely owed by songwriter.
Contestant agrees submitted materials won’t be withdrawn in the middle of a stage/level once accepted into that stage or level of the competition.

Contestant grants V2V and its event partners (including but not limited to Port Credit Buskerfest) the irrevocable right to use, reproduce, edit, and display the submitted song, promotional materials, and Contestant’s image, likeness, videos, and live performance footage for purposes solely related to the promotion and marketing of V2V and its associated events across all media platforms (including website, social media, print, and video).

Contestant agrees to be available for live performances and events as required if advancing in the competition.
Contestant agrees to reasonably participate in promotional opportunities, including but not limited to, live performances (only V2V event shows during Finals if artist progresses), interviews, and media features if requested.

Prize winners agree to provide video footage and/or photographs documenting the prize experience (such as recording sessions or use of prizes) for promotional purposes. This includes, but is not limited to, video and photographic content that may be shared across V2V’s social media, website, and other promotional channels.
Top 10 winners may be contacted for a follow-up interview or “Where Are They Now” feature.

Contestants are responsible for their own health insurance and indemnify V2V, Dog’s Life Music Ltd. (“DLM”), Port Credit Buskerfest, and their partners, affiliates, and sponsors from any and all claims arising out of any accident, injury, illness, or other incident occurring during participation in V2V, including travel to and from events.

Contestant acknowledges that participation in V2V is voluntary and does not constitute employment or contractual engagement with V2V, DLM, or its partners/affiliates. All expenses incurred by Contestant, including but not limited to travel, accommodation, and other related costs, are the sole responsibility of the Contestant unless otherwise expressly stated in writing.
Contestant agrees not to incur any indebtedness or liability in the name of V2V, DLM, or any of its partners, affiliates, or sponsors.

Contestant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless V2V, DLM, Port Credit Buskerfest, and all partners, affiliates, sponsors, and contractors against any and all claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising out of the Contestant’s breach of these Terms and Conditions or any wrongful act, omission, or negligence by the Contestant.

All prizes are stated in Canadian Dollars and are subject to change at the discretion of the organizers.

Contestant agrees to act in accordance with all applicable local, provincial, and federal laws and to refrain from any conduct or communication that could reasonably be construed as defamatory, disparaging, or damaging to the reputation of V2V, DLM, Port Credit Buskerfest, or their partners, sponsors, or affiliates.

V2V, DLM, and its partners/affiliates are not responsible for the acts, omissions, or conduct of any third parties, including sponsors, volunteers, contractors, or service providers involved in the competition.

Contestant agrees not to contact or engage directly with V2V sponsors, partners, affiliates, judges, or industry professionals without the prior written consent of V2V organizers while involved in the competition and events surrounding it (May-Nov), unless prizes/events warrant engagement. This restriction is in place to avoid any perceived or actual conflicts of interest and to preserve the integrity and fairness of the competition. This includes, but is not limited to, soliciting business deals, collaborations, or promotional opportunities without V2V’s knowledge and approval.

By participating in V2V, Contestant consents to receiving communications, updates, and promotional materials via email from V2V, Dog’s Life Music Ltd. (“DLM”), and any affiliated companies or partners involved in the competition. Contestants may opt-out of such communications at any time by following the provided unsubscribe instructions.

Once a Contestant has been accepted into a stage of the competition, their submitted content (including but not limited to songs, images, videos, and promotional materials) will remain publicly accessible for the duration of that stage and will not be removed, regardless of whether the Contestant withdraws or is removed due to a violation of these Terms and Conditions. V2V reserves the sole discretion to determine how such content will be presented, reposted, or referenced, without public disclosure of the reasons for the Contestant’s status change.

Contestants under the age of 18 must contact V2V to complete a Parent/Guardian Waiver Form prior to participation.

V2V reserves the right to amend or modify these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice.

Contestants are solely responsible for ensuring that their participation in the competition complies with all applicable local, provincial, and federal laws. V2V and DLM assume no responsibility for verifying or enforcing such compliance and shall not be held liable for any resulting violations. All interpretations of these Terms and Conditions shall be made at the sole discretion of V2V and are final.
